Benefits of Pet Therapy for Care at Home

Can a therapy dog be a wonderful way to brighten a loved one’s day? Family caregivers who have tried pet therapy answer with an enthusiastic “Yes!”

If you have a loved one who can benefit, here’s an easy way to make it happen. The Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc. is a non-profit (all volunteer) organization that evaluates, tests, trains, and qualifies therapy dogs that can give loving and empathic support to those receiving senior care at home, pediatric home care, post-operative care, or home care for the disabled.

Therapy dogs also make visits with their owners to nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and other places where emotional service dogs are indispensable. All Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs are pets who work as a team with their owners. Owners must ensure their dogs pass a therapy dog test and keep vaccinations up to date. These owners also make a commitment to do therapy visits on a regular basis and renew their Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs membership yearly.

All pet therapy owner/dog teams have primary accident and liability insurance. Each dog visit lasts one hour or less. Although it’s based in New Jersey, Bright & Beautiful operates with volunteer dog owners all over the U.S.

A therapy dog visit can be requested by any family member. To request a therapy dog visit in New Jersey or Rockland County, NY please call The Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs at 973-292-3316 or email them at info@golden-dogs.com They will email, mail or fax a request form to you requesting the information they need to arrange a visit by a volunteer owner with a dog. We hope the visit, and the canine warmth, brings a smile to someone you love.
