What is the difference between a Personal Care Aide & a Certified Home Health Aide for care at home? What do they have in common?

Our home health aides work as part-time or live-in care providers helping clients who need senior home care, home care for the disabled, post operative care, palliative care, or other types of specialized care. They are employees of our licensed agency, and importantly, all our aides are managed by Sunshine Home Care through quality care guidelines and visits to the client’s home.

Our aides follow an individualized plan of care for every client. This plan is created by our experienced nurse who conducts an assessment before in-home services are begun. The care plan’s goals are comprehensive: it addresses the medical as well as the psychological and emotional needs of the client to support both health and quality of life.

Personal Care Aides provide care at home by carrying out responsibilities including:

• Grocery Shopping & Errands
• Meal Preparation & Feeding if Necessary
• Playing Games & Cards
• Reading Aloud
• Assistance with Grooming, Bathing, Toileting
• Laundry & Light Housekeeping
• Escorting to Medical Appointments, Religious Services, Shopping, Visiting
• Organizing the Home

Certified Home Health Aides complete an educational course for care at home. They are able to perform ALL the duties above as required, and they are trained to provide all these medically-related services as needed:

• Blood Pressure, Pulse & Temperature Monitoring
• Meal Preparation for Modified Diets and Complex Modified Diets, including: Low Sugar, Low Salt, High Protein, Soft, Mechanically Altered, Diabetic Diet, Liquid, and Nutritionally Supplemented Diet.
• Medication Reminding & Administering
• Special Skin Care
• Assist with Braces, Splints & Prosthetics
• Sleep Apnea Monitoring & Equipment Set-up
• Use of Medical Equipment, Supplies and Devices
• Change of Dressings
• Collection of Specimens
• Measurements & Tests to Routinely Monitor the Patient’s Condition
• Performance of Maintenance Exercise Programs
